Second Chance Arlington

Second Chance was created with wide community collaboration and involvement that included school administrators, police, the juvenile justice system, Commonwealth's Attorney, students, parents/guardians, and non-profit partners in addition to the Arlington Foundation for Families and Youth.

From September 2012-January 2025, the Foundation for Families and Youth offered the Second Chance program to Arlington County middle and high school students who were found under the influence or in possession of illegal substances in school as well as the larger community. Students referred by Arlington Public Schools (APS) could attend in lieu of school suspension and those referred by Arlington Juvenile Courts could attend in lieu of court involvement.

Effective February 1, 2025, APS brought the program in-house and it is now being conducted by School Climate & Culture and Student Services. For information about sessions and locations, contact: Kristin Devaney: kristin.devaney@apsva.us; phone: 702.228.6061.
