Arlington Teen Film Festival:
- Provided funding for prizes for the Arlington Teen Film Festival (in partnership with Arlington Independent Media) – twice.
- Provided $300 in funding to defray unforeseen production costs for student filmmaker.
Assets Minutes:
- Provided funding for a series of Developmental Assets videos for the APCYF.
Community Workshops/Conferences/Events:
- Let's Talk About Race - provided funding for contractor.
- Arlington All-In Conference - co-sponsor and funding support for county-wide conference.
- Care for A Change - co-sponsor, provided summer backpacks.
- Connect With Kids annual celebrations.
Comprehensive School Health Committee:
- Provided funding for printing “Family Time: 5 Meals a Week”, a brochure developed by School Health to encourage families to eat together as often as they can. The brochure was distributed widely in both Spanish and English.
Face to Face HIV Prevention Program:
- A best practice program for educating teens on avoiding HIV infection and transmission featuring an individual living with HIV/AIDS and a health educator who presents facts about HIV testing, transmission and prevention. The grant supported speakers’ fees for 40 10th grade health classes.
Family Network Website Support:
- Provided funding for the development of the PTA/Family Network website. This site was developed to help the Family Networks better coordinate the workshops for parents offered through-out the year.
Fiscal Agent:
- Elder Mentors Program – Inter-generational mentor program at Gunston Middle School, 2013-2019

- Dr. Leonard Sax, the well-known author of the book "Why Gender Matters" and physician who is an expert on adolescent behavior and the differences in brain development between boys and girls.
- Deborah Roffman, a nationally certified Sexuality and Family Life Educator, and author of two books (Sex and Sensibility and But How Did I Get Here in the First Place?) addressing how parents can talk about sex with their children.

Mary Ann Moran Memorial Fund which provided funding to:

Preventing Teen Alcohol Use:
- Support for summer intern to lead a qualitative research project designed to increase understanding Arlington teens’ perceptions of alcohol and alcohol consumption habits. The intern trained a team of high school students to interviews with their peers, analyzed the data, and drew conclusions about teen alcohol consumption and potential methods of alcohol prevention.
- Sponsored presentations by Mimi Fleury and Beth Kane Davidson, representing the Communities of Concern consortium, which produced A Parent’s Guide to Prevention of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Use.
- Panel presentation sponsored by the PTA/Family Network to discuss Beach Week. Speakers included Rehoboth Beach chief of police Keith Banks, chief deputy commonwealth's attorney Theo Stamos, and Arlington parents and educators.
Project Peace:
- Provided a matching grant for a public education and awareness campaign on the issue of domestic violence. Project PEACE is a broad-based, coordinated effort to prevent domestic violence and provide services to those affected by it.
- Contributed to speaking fees for Mildred Muhammed, author of Scared Silent, who appeared at a Project Peace community forum to discuss her first-hand experience with domestic violence.
- Provided funding for publication of Making Connections brochure, co-produced with Second Chance and the Partnership for Children, Youth, and Families.
Report Card on the Status of Children, Youth and Families:
- Provided matching funds for a consultant who provided technical review of the data and key findings. The report card is a compendium of statistics on the wellbeing of children and youth in the areas of health, family, education and community.
- Paid for the editing and publication of the 2019 Community Report Card.
Summer Intern Stipend:
- Provided a $1000 stipend for a summer intern to implement a Participatory Action Research Project involving training Arlington teens to interview their peers to learn more about teen attitudes about alcohol use.
Support for Other Arlington Programs:
- Phoenix Bikes: provided funding to purchase Assets Survey for Phoenix Bikes participants – twice.
- Arlington County Police Summer Program: pass-through funding: one time
- Lose the Wheels (bicycle training for kids with disabilities).
